The book

The Closest Connection

A small book about staying close — when distance gets in the way.

Part memoir, part permission slip, part quiet manifesto. The story of how a quiet mission to bridge the distance between people who love each other began — at a kitchen table, after a dream, with two people who finally stopped apologizing for the size of what they had been built to carry.

Written for the person far away who keeps meaning to call. Written for the loved one who feels forgotten. Written for everyone who has ever held a thought at 10:47pm on a Wednesday and not known what to do with it.

The Dream

I didn't go looking for this business. It found me in my sleep.

In the dream, I was busy. But not the kind of busy that exhausts you. The kind of busy that fills you. I was moving from person to person, from need to need, from moment to moment — and everywhere I went, I was carrying something simple and profound at the same time.

I was carrying the reminder that someone cared.

The dream didn't give me a new idea. It gave me permission to finally charge for one I'd already been living.
